I don't know, I only have an instagram account so I can open posts/pics that sometimes are linked on a blog or website, and to look at that one cat account I follow when I log in once in a blue moon. No post of my own, no phone app. I don't believe Meta knows a lot on me just via that. I wouldn't want to lose the account just because I refuse Threads' business model though.

Not very interested, except if everyone I follow on twitter moves there (which I doubt would happen, as most are rather trying to move to mastodon). But it would sure be nice to have a twitter that's not run by fucking elon musk. Meta aren't saints and facebook has been trash for many years, but they've never implemented absolutely dumb decisions as far as I know or made fools of themselves really. Nor does Meta's CEO keep spouting reactionary nonsense and trying to be the center of attention at all times. I won't ever install a Meta app on my phone, but I still think I actually prefer Zuckerberg over absolute clowns like Musk or Spez.

Tildes is pretty good in that regard. Though you can't create groups (= subreddits) yourself iirc. I tried switching to there but I actuallly find Lemmy more convincing and fitting to my own use of Reddit.

You can make posts and create threads inside threads now. The tags and roles are pretty useful for a community too. Still, doesn't compare to an actual forum, especially since you can't vote or sort the comments.

Yeah. I saw someone on a Discord say there was a ferret at their pride and everyone cheered over how cute that was. Made me sad about the little dude leashed among hundreds of people all moving and being loud.
