Trans dev here, I hear that hacker spaces aren't bad places to look. I wouldn't know though, too shy to actually show up -.-

I agree with you, but I also think people find Discord convenient because it's just 1 account and free to use.

I wonder if Lemmy and the rest of the fediverse can work here, or just anything where smaller free projects don't necessarily have to pay for and maintain their own community infrastructure, and still allow users to jump around without getting too locked in.

I'm a bit annoyed with element X tbh, my home server only has sso logins, but they don't support that and the error message doesn't explain this at all, which means it's up to me to figure out if I'm doing it wrong, my home server is doing something wrong, or the app is just bad at communicating errors.

What are the preferred alternatives?

Mine is probably matrix, mostly because I can use the same account everywhere, but it also feels like there's a lot of gotchas and all the phone apps are kinda meh each in their own unique way.

I feel like I should have found other trans people to talk with irl earlier. I don't think I was fully ready until recently tho.

There were apparently some schools that had cat litter around because children can't go to toilets during school shooting lockdowns, which is terrible in its own way.

But you should probably touch it before all the dependencies are outdated. And before everyone who understands how to work with it has left. Especially if it happens to be core to the business.

:)

My mom suggested it. I thought it was the most stupid name suggestion so far, but smiled and nodded because I was happy that we were having a genuine talk about my transition without the negativity that we would often end up with.

After a few months I realized that I kinda love it and, as you say, nothing really clicked the same way. It's been about 2 years since I legally changed it and I still get a warm feeling when people use it :)

Also, nothing weird about the name Eva! If it feels weird to tell people how you came up with it, you are allowed to not mention that the idea came from a TV show.

Does anyone know if something like this exist in the EU? Importing stuff from the US can get expensive.

At least one danish politician used his parliament email address to purchase stuff from them.
