Between basic storage being so much larger than it used to be (the 4-8GB days were brutal) and USB-C flash drives that can plug into your charging port, I seldom miss them these days

Still sucks that they removed them as an option though

Yeah, that's the way to do it.

There's a lot that's pretty funny, but their narratives about being the last bastion of freedom and enlightenment always rubbed me the wrong way

Kind of like how subbreddits and circlejerks often go hand in hand. Or how people here like to talk about how it's soooooo much better than reddit to the point that, no matter how you sort it, the front page is buried in posts saying the same thing

4chan is a great example of what places that consider free speech an indelible right will turn into

People who have the most vile and hostile opinions will flock there and push most of the reasonable people out

Talking to a band of brainwashed idiots who hide their hate behind a thin veneer pseudointellectualism gets old pretty fast and, as /pol/ likes to point out, those opinions color their view of reality and will seep into discussions of seemingly unrelated topics

Most of us don't want to have to deconstruct some non-sensical ideology every time we make a statement. They think this means their opinions are some hidden truth that we can't handle.

The reality is that we can prove them wrong, but they can't or won't accept it so we give up on them and go where there are more reasonable people to interact with

Agree and disagree. They put the cart before the horse on this one for sure. If we solve the problem of unaffordable education, then we can talk about forgiving the student loans of people who didn't get to benefit from the new system

Just forgiving the student loans of a seemingly random block of people makes no sense. The next generation and more importly the universities will expect us to do the same thing later. Guess what that means?

Schools will raise their prices even more and kids will take on even more debt. We can't just slap a bandaid on this and pat ourselves on the back

I see it as a good thing. I don't really want my server full of kids or talked about in the media, and would likely question the motivations of anyone who did

I think beehaw is the only major group that actually defederated us, but that was before the drama

I get your concern, I was extremely worried my first time. It's a lot easier than you might expect though

Still, it's your money and your comfort. If it's worth the extra money for a pre-built to save you peace of mind, by all means do as you will

After building a PC for the first time a few years ago, I'll never buy a pre-built desktop again (low or high end)

The amount of corners they cut and terrible design decisions they make just so you can't reuse the parts elsewhere are not only criminal from a consumer perspective, but an environmental one as well

Wow that sucks. Pcpartpicker has 3060 ti's ~$370 now

You guys don't really think that, right?

I'd bet my left nut reddit will survive for quite a while yet, probably do even better over time

The kind of people who end up here just aren't the target demographic for them anymore
