Never heard of this. Love the entry!

This does sound like a suicide attempt. I think a lot of people attribute being hogtied to the presence of an attacker when those who commit suicide are known to tie themselves so that they won't be able to back out.

Trivia: This makes an appearance on an episode of Succession, right down to the towel covering practice. That's how I found out about it to begin with.

As you can tell from the 1 visitor average per day for the last year (aka. me lol), this community is pretty much dead. No one is reading this as well, but in case you wander here while bored — I'm sticking a fork on Lemmy PH. No more monthly threads or news posts, at least from me.

It started out strong and was brimming with potential, but once r/PH reopened, 90% of the posters made a beeline back to the sub. The rest who decided to stick, slowly packed their bags as well. I don't appreciate being made a joke in Discord, but hey, such is life and the reality of protests.

Thanks for giving this community a shot! It was a fun first month or so! I'm focusing my attention to UndustFixation now, which has been keeping me busy outside of work, actually. Stay safe!

Edit: Shout out to u/gradenko_2000 who saw the protests as performative and took it a step further by not going back to Reddit at all and refusing repeated invites to Lemmy.

A lot of people hated the film adaptation but I think it kind of paints them sympathetically (well, Euronymous mostly) as kids that were just trying to be too edgy for their own good.

Can't say the same for Varg, though. He's still a dick to this day.

Lots of school shootings way before Columbine and for some reason it's credited as the one that started it all.

It used to be longer and included details about PayPal flagging the Hurricane Katrina donations, references in pop culture media pertaining to him, and about the forums requiring a $10 signup fee.

Now it's short enough that it makes you wonder if a Wiki page is even necessary.

I watched this immediately after a non-theatrical release became available. Was honestly disappointed. Not only for having no artistic value or merits as a film whatsoever (not like I expected it to be) but the fact that it wants to be edgy yet pulls their punches.

For example, in the "newborn porn" scene, you don't actually see anything. It just shows the lead's reaction to what was heavily implied to be fetus buggering. There's also a ton of cutaway shots from the violent scenes... like the penis-in-the-eye-socket, from what I remember he was just yanking the guys head towards the direction of his crotch repeatedly and we get a shot from behind of his dick exiting through the skull in cartoonish fashion.

I mean the target market of this movie are gorehounds looking for their next high, so why hold back? August Underground has a similar scene to the newborn porn one.

That being said, you're not missing anything if you don't see this. It's garbage. Some "controversial" films are actually "good" and worth experiencing like Salo, House That Jack Built, Martyrs, or In The Realm of the Senses. This one isn't.

They're a little harder to get into than most death metal bands. Their sound is harsher, more abrasive. And their look, well, is kinda off-putting.

As opposed to when I see Cannibal Corpse or Pig Destroyer, you can see yourself having a beer and casual chat with them and know underneath all those theatrics they're regular blokes. Heck, even Glen Benton/Deicide is known to be a chill guy despite all the anti-Christian stuff.
