In my case I'm just posting a lot to already-created communities found in the Lemmy directory that've got a chunk of subscribers.

If you're going to start your own community for your own interest, I'd advise at least setting up on an already-populated Lemmy server (which you would have to be registered on) so it gets listed in the local directory.

If you're going to host the Lemmy server and your community, I have no experience on that front/I would imagine there's a lot of SEO and self-promotion you'd have to do to get it off the ground.

How's the air quality? Is it at least below unknown records?

(i drew this comic when the air quality was so bad the local expert's vibes were like "leave if you can; if you don't you'll uh.... well honestly we don't know what will happen to you, but it probably won't be good."

i'm more curious about getting on their venmo friend list.

"hey, it's uh, vlad. i need 200k for the um, rigging of the midterms in uh, wisconsin. thank you."

They still die once the chestburster comes out, the device just prolongs the incubation period... and the cultists get to have a sweet, giant, see-through hole in their stomach area where all of their internal organs should be... somehow.

I mean OK if they can make artificial persons as good as they do in the movies, I SUPPOSE I could find it believable that we developed tech to let us live without, um, our stomachs, intestines, rib cages, etc.

eesh, i really botched the earth-cracking-open one in the bottom right of the flare; i just lazily threw another flare on it and hoped that'd have covered my bad work, but it didn't! i'll maybe re-touch it up another time.

Do illegal immigrants up-and-leave at a higher rate than others?

Anecdotally, the only people I've seen who bailed on apartments are either just poor or irresponsible, neither of which correlate to one's immigration status.

I would imagine as far as property-owners go, a tenant's income is the landlord's income; if the landlord is considering renting to an illegal immigrant, they are probably already in dire straights (as is the immigrant). Turn them away and you're sans a potential tenant, the local economy suffers, and now your property is even less desirable.

My spouse administers their own shots for their Chron's disease medication; are the shots pretty much like... the tubular thingies wherein the needle's kinda hidden and all you feel is the prick after pressing a button? Or is it like... the full-on here's-a-fucking-needle-good-luck-chump shot?

Actually I lied about consuming all alien lore; the comics are a big blind spot for me as I've only really read a few AVP series, one of the newer Alien comic series (involving a colony and a farm and a severed robot head? I forget the name of it), one about artificial persons being sent to rescue a colony -- which I think is where my subscription canceled after I moved-- and one about an activist sabotaging a WY ship.

Since my subscription canceled I've been lazy about getting back into them/was waiting for one to wrap or for a volume to come out for me to catch up on.

Is the 'hackneyed Queen Xeno' the humanoid queen I was seeing pictures of? Again I thought she was just a nightmare, she was real? Oof!

I mostly contribute here, mostly.

(edit: changed it to a relative link instead of a permalink so you can subscribe from other instances)

You gotta Field of Dreams it. I’m doing it for LV426/the Aliens universe. Just treat it like you’re starting a forum or a newsletter and, hopefully in time, others will contribute and it’ll grow organically.

Doge members, including Airbnb co-founder, aired their vision for federal government to be ‘Apple Store-like’

I want to Luigi them all, it’s hard to know where to start. Capitalism is commodifying existence into a progressively-restrictive slavery. Defenders say the market course-corrects, but greed is always going to be the piece of the democratic Jenga tower back down to authoritarianism.

Senate Bill 54 would require property owners of 10 or more multi-family units to provide tenants with indoor cooling in at least one room. The rules would kick in when outdoor temperatures reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit for more. By 2036, all bedrooms in these apartments would require cooling devices.
