At the very least and no matter how humble your threshold is, everyone wants food, shelter and some kind of company.

The first 2 cannot be attained for free in our world's ergo, you cannot be free from whatever obligations you may incurr to procure them

This is all nice theoretical advice.... Not to be used literally in practice

I'm finding DDG results very inconsistent as of late.

I was trying to find an old podcast about the Stanford jail experiment. Couldn't remember it was Stanford so my prompt was: radiolab jail experiment

I got a whole page of a Netflix jail experiment show. The entire page were links to Netflix or reviews or news about the Netflix show. Not a single mention of Stanford or radiolab at all

Switched my prompt to: "radiolab" jail experiment And immediately got what I was looking for.

Gotta say, not impressed with the results as off late

I honestly don't understand the love for Thunderbird... Tried it for a few months, loved it entirely until I discovered it was fucking losing days worth of emails

Lost, as in, nowhere to be found, no search or manual browse would find them, no way of restoring them. Had to go into OWA to see the missing emails

Then apparently I found out it's a known bug

I'm sorry but I would trade every bell and whistle for an email client that does not fucking lose your email

He made a massive miscalculation on the combat effectiveness of both the Russian and Ukrainian armies

More like, he was counting on Trump's second term. If that had taken place, there would be no Ukraine now

It may still happen but hopefully the damage is done by now

On the other hand, who knows what Oil Futures are going to do.

They are going to go up... That's what they always do. People drive more in the summer, they go up. People stop driving for the fall, they go up. Winter too cold, they go up. Hottest winter in recorded history, they go up.

So gas prices are coming down, right?

I'm not talking about trial and error, I'm talking about throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Is that not trial and error?

Nationalize every food production branch? Hmmm sure, that's simpler

Trial and error isn't the only way to optimize things... It's actually one of the worst, the one you use when you have no clue how to proceed

So no, that is not a justification for having done it or continue to do it

Now I wonder if substituting the sugar in my coffee with arsenic would render a delicious new beverage.... Only one way to find out!

You are seriously underestimating the complexity of products and how easy it would be for them to skirt such legislation

It would be a massive endeavour for regulators which companies may bypass by industry... This is not the right approach

Exactly this, Windows has NEVER been a "it just works" desktop and people complain bitterly about it until Linux is offered... Suddenly "it works differently than windows" becomes an insurmountable obstacle people don't dare to take

Even LTT did this in their windows vs Linux comparison a couple of years back. Basically they introduced every possible user error (like not realizing they were copying a 4 GB file and expected it to copy under a second) as a Linux problem... I mean, come on!

In the end it's the exact situation as with pick up drivers... "Try to haul 10 tons of maneure on a Prius!".... Sure if you truly need to do that daily, stick with your truck, but the vast majority of pick up owners could have a normal sized car and barely would need to take special actions once a year

I mean, what's more impossible - changing Western dietary habits or changing the entire structure of capitalism and representative democracy that allows rich people to own private jets?

I don't know, do you?

All I'm saying is eliminating bad habits from literally a few individuals would have a greater effect than curving the habits of millions

I mean, what are you? A spokesperson for Boeing?
