I predict a very small number sticking around though. Layouts and instances are a little too unintuitive.

You don't. You will never be able to see their content or reply to their content. They may have already replied to you though.

It's why I prefer burrgit, no blocked instances here.

Well Beehaw doesn't allow custom communities (and also blocks you if you're from different instances), so you shouldn't use Beehaw.

As for your community, I can't access it by entering https://burggit.moe/c/turkey@lemmy.ml

Is it perhaps an option you missed in your community settings? Maybe it needs time to update? No clue.

If you want to not miss anything, switch from Subscribed to All. Also, check if your instance blocks any others by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking Instances.

Blocking decentralisation doesn't help though, which is what beehaw does.
