I think I'll keep up making swatches for garment where sizing does matter but keep winging it willy-nilly for accesories lol

I have to be honest and confess I honestly have no idea of the terminology, let's say anything but Intarsia lol

I've seen some sets of square needles, do they feel too differently to round? :o

[–] kurobita@feddit.cl 2 points 8 months ago

Ooh that's a great idea as I can get fixed circulars. I've read good things about the Karbonz in the smallest sizes. I currently use a US 1 (2.25mm) wood fixed circular for knitting socks and it's ok, but I feel the tip is a bit blunt, not pointy enough to really get into the yarn.

Just a heads up, this pattern is being updated in 01/20 with a new version for round knitting (which has become my favorite way of knitting), there's also gonna be a KAL going on for the re-release, so I'll probably jump in and knit a ee one for myself :)

Hello fellow southern hemisphere dweller! πŸ‘‹ Love the color combination of your yarn

The Sunflowers are one of my favorite of Vincent's paintings but they didn't translate too well into yarn xD Bummer because I got THREE skeins of it (in my defense, it was a sale). I'm thinking about what to do with the other skeins, maybe incorporate them into a fair isle sweater (one of my to do projects for 2024).

I hope the Universe brings a knitter into your life to give you many unrequested knit items. I have way more yarn and time than body to wear all the knitted stuff I make/want to make.

Do it!

Maybe because it's from a local (to me) designer and the Ravelry community around here is pretty much non existant is the reason there are few projects.

I just learned this year at 36yo and I'm a leftie (which always adds some complication). I started going to a knitting meetup once a week, but mostly learnt at home with my mom (she's been an avid knitter since she was 6yo) and through YouTube video tutorials. It has a learning curve like everything, but once you learn the basic stitches (knitting and purling) there's a whole bunch of things you can do. I started with hats, headbands and cowls.

It is very meditative and has helped me a lot this year with my anxiety and depression after a somewhat nasty breakup from a long-term relationship. There's also the feeling of achievement after finishing a project.

This was the project I took with me on vacation and it kept me busy during my 3 weeks in Spain. I started knitting it in Santiago, fittingly (however it was technically Spring and not OtoΓ±o/Fall lol). Though I 'finished' it mid-trip, I decided I did not liked how it turned out so I frogged it and started all over again. I did less repeats of the garter stitch section and added more repeats of the lace section.

As seen previously here and here.

Finally finished my Spring Shawl last week and blocked over the weekend. I thought I wouldn't have any chance to use it because it's technically Spring here, but it's been surprisingly cold so I've been able to wear it and LOVE IT. Everyone compliments it and I feel super proud, even though there are some mistakes here and there that probably only I can see xD

This week I've spent more time untangling this damn cake than actually crocheting. So I finally gave up and re-wound the leftover thread into a smaller ball. Much better.

I hope to be able to finish and block this weekend. Fingers crossed!

No doggo in this pic because I took it before leaving for work and she was still sleeping.

My first post here! I'm doing my first shawl with slow transition yarn. I learnt crochet when I was a kid but I had never done such a big project. I work full time so I run home every day to get some rows done lol. Now that my shawl has grown a bit since taking these pictures that means 2-3 rows a day, but oh well, no rush here :)

Edited: Added theme to title, thanks for the nudge @thegiddystitcher@lemm.ee :)

I made this as a birthday present for a friend. It is my first succesful project using circular needles. I used 5mm needles, with 40cms cable for the body of the beanie, then switched to a 120cm cable and used the magic loop technique for the decreases.

It is mt first time trying this "bubble" stitch and I was so nervous doing the K4B and 'undoing' stitches lol.

Yarn is worsted weight Dreams in color 0002 from local store RevΓ©s Derecho

Pattern here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mermaid-bubbles-hat

I made a crochet garland for a friend's son and decided to use some of the leftover yarn for a matching beanie.

I based it off loosely from a pattern in spanish, but it's very simple. I cast off 90 stitches (88 for the square pattern + 2 as edge), then 6cms (or 12 rows) of 2x2 ribbing. For the squared pattern I alternated knit and purl stiches. After 5 stripes of squares I began decreasing and then closed the cap and sew.

The pattern used circular needles and I reeeeeally wanted to make it work as an approach to knitting in the round for cowls, shawls and what not but I just couldn't get it. After struggling a whole weekend and literally undoing/redoing the thing 20 times I said "eff this" and switched to straight needles.

I need a knitting in the round knitting for dummies :(

On Saturday I finished this headband that I did for a friend, just in time to give to her when we met on Sunday. I used some leftover yarn and got juuuuuust enough to finish at 50cms long and sew

I had fun making this project, the rows are short enough I could memorize them and knit without the pattern at hand so it was a great project to carry around.

I knew I was forgetting something this morning when I left for work πŸ˜… I'll add a comment later with a picture of what I'm currently working on because I don't bring my knitting to work, sadly. In the meantime, feel free to add to this thread with what is keeping you up past your bedtime this week πŸ˜‰

Hello knitters! Here's for another version of WIP Wednesday, feel free to reply to this thread with your own Work In Progress.

What project has kept you up past your bedtime this week? As for myself I decided to start a 'quick' project, a headband for a friend who loves red. Pattern is the Thicket Headband by Mirella Moments. I'm loving headbands for quick & easy projects and this is a fun twist to the usual cable design.

Yarn is something my mom had in her stash, it's was the only red-ish yarn I could find but since it was a little too thin for the pattern I decided to knit it double.
