the fediverse needs a simple onboarding process like "signal", to overtly simplify it for casual users. Also, I only heard about loops today and it appears so far it only has a specialized iOS app that requires a special "alpha" mode to be enabled, and no android app. Not exactly ready for primetime.

This is how parliamentary governments work, they figured out how to resolve the bug in the US system that always tends towards two major parties. However the two-party system, so I've read, is actually a tad bit more resistant to the fascism bug, as parliamentary systems can have outright fascist parties winning a minority of the vote eventually grow big enough to take over and end the system entirely.

Musk, people still on twitter. It's absolutely rife with crypto people. And here musk is, stating before courts that he owns your account. I'm sure it works out great for him!

The fediverse as a whole has missed a huge opportunity here. I never see anyone talking about it as alternatives to twitter or tiktok, only bluesky and rednote. AFAIK we have no alternative to tik-tok that is viable right now, so I don't know why anyone thought we could manage that one.

Even if their claim of "organized theft" is true, that itself would be a self-correcting market force. Your price point should exist somewhere between the extreme of "lock it up so tight nobody can buy it" and "it's cheaper for people to shoplift it en masse". If you can't manage that, maybe you deserve to go out of business (also I think you'll find that it would also help to increase the number of staff to actually unlock the damn shelves). Perhaps in the long run the market will self correct, but this is absolutely idiotic right now. And the real consequences for people that have lost their local pharmacy are catastrophic.

Interesting that it's the same web3 proponents that are the first to say they own your entire digital identity and you have to like it
