Texas "was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery-- the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits-- a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which [Texas] people intended should exist in all future time"

Gee, what a hard question to figure out from historical sources, guess we'll never know what they were thinking...

RMTransit just did a video about how it's basically impossible to have good public transit without London-style city control.

The comments on his video list certain cities where the council own a bus company and everything works okay.

Note that the north of England almost got an Oyster card style of combined payment system thanks to tfN.

There was - it made things worse:

"The 15-year-old brother came outside with his own semiautomatic handgun and allegedly shot the younger teen in the stomach"

"Your computer came with a detachable keyboard?"

This map was really opaque until yEd helped explain the problem...

Since yesterday, clicking from the front page to any discussion gives a blank page with couldnt_get_comments error and a 'refresh' button that takes you back to the front page

This happens the same when trying with different instances, logged in or not logged in, and after uninstall/reinstall.

Normally when gears wear out you just replace them, but hub gears (like Shimano Alfine) this means rebuilding the entire wheel.

Any recommendations for getting them working better without a lot of cost & expertise?
