Israeli Knesset Overwhelmingly Passes Motion Calling for West Bank Annexation | Truthout (2025-07-25)

https://truthout.org/articles/israeli-knesset-overwhelmingly-passes-motion-calling-for-west-bank-annexation/
———

>> The motion, to declare the Palestinian territory as “an inseparable part of the Land of Israel” and proclaiming “Israeli sovereignty” in the region, passed 71 to 13.

>> The motion does not formally authorize any actions, rather serving as a symbolic measure urging the government to take action…

>> ... Some members [of Knesset] walked out of the chamber in protest of the vote, Haaretz reports.

>> However, … the measure is an alarming show of the wide support in Israel for erasing the Palestinian people and finalizing Israel’s takeover of what little is left of historic Palestine.

>> U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) said that … is yet another show of the impunity that Israel enjoys among American politicians, many of whom are actively enabling Israel’s slaughter and occupation.

The Israeli government has pivoted to a new deflection: The famine in Gaza is not the result of Israel’s publicly announced March 2 blockade of all food entering Gaza, nor is it connected to the Israeli- and U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which replaced the UNRWA aid system Israel shut down with its own militarized version in late May. Instead, according to the new Israeli campaign, the blame lies with the United Nations. “Hundreds of aid trucks have entered Gaza with Israel’s approval, but the supplies are standing idle, undelivered,” the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared on X. “The reason? The UN refuses to distribute the aid.”

Israel attacked the Cairo Elementary School for Girls in central Gaza City just as people had gathered in the school yard for Friday prayers, according to multiple eyewitnesses. Many of the displaced in the school are from areas in northern Beit Hanoun, which has been nearly completely destroyed and emptied by the Israeli military. So far, Israel has not published even a perfunctory justification for the strike and the Israeli military did not immediately respond to questions submitted by Drop Site about the attack.

My name is Soliman — a young man and student from Gaza, carrying a burden far heavier than my age. Between my studies and the hardships of life, I try to be the backbone of my family in the most difficult of times.

We once had a small farm — olive and citrus trees, and a greenhouse where we planted not just crops, but dreams. That farm was our only source of income, and more than that, it was a place full of memories, of hope, and of the laughter that once made life a little easier.

But in a single moment, everything was gone. A fire reduced our years of effort to ashes. We lost our source of living, our stability — and with it, a part of our souls.

Now, despite the pain, I’m trying to start over. I’m doing everything I can to keep my family standing, to find even the smallest light of hope that might restore our strength, dignity, and sense of humanity.

I share these words with honesty and hope, hoping they reach a kind heart — someone who can help, or even simply share my story with others who might be able to.

If you’re able to support us in any way, here is the link to our GoFundMe campaign:

Every share, every kind word, every small donation could be a lifeline for us.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking a moment to read my story.

In an unusual move since it first began operations, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) announced on its Facebook page that aid distribution would today be exclusively for women. The distribution was supposed to be carried out at two locations in southern Gaza: the Saudi neighborhood in Rafah and the city of Khan Younis. The GHF’s call instructed women in Gaza to head to these points at 9:00 a.m.

“Our local team will guide women to a designated area where each will receive a box,” the GHF said in its announcement in Arabic, accompanied by what appears to be an AI-generated photo of smiling male GHF workers holding boxes and welcoming a group of women approaching them. “Men are requested to avoid the site during this distribution,” the statement added.

But when the women arrived, GHF personnel attacked them with pepper-spray and batons, while Israeli military vehicles opened fire with bullets over their heads, eyewitnesses said in testimonies obtained by Mondoweiss. One woman who was at the site says she witnessed a GHF worker beating a pregnant woman on her stomach. Other eyewitnesses reported to local journalists that two women were shot dead by the Israeli army and several others were injured.

Genocide is an unspeakable madness, a monstrous abyss of cruelty that obliterates the very soul of humanity. It is the ultimate, unforgivable crime, a grotesque betrayal of all that is sacred, staining the earth with the blood of innocence and scorching the conscience of the world with its unrelenting horror.

For 100 days, Palestinians in the occupied West Bank town of Idna have been surviving without running water. The town of some 40,000 inhabitants has been relying on rain reservoirs and water tanks sold by vendors. The town’s water crisis was provoked by the April decision of Israeli national water company Mekorot to reduce the daily provision of water to the Hebron governorate of the southern West Bank. The water supply shrank from 32,000 cubic meters to 26,000, which included completely shutting down Mekorot’s water line for Idna.

This water crisis isn’t new, and it isn’t limited to Idna. Every summer, multiple parts of the West Bank experience prolonged water cuts that can extend for up to a month, mainly due to the lack of water supply by Mekorot, which controls most of the water resources in Palestine.

In Idna, residents met in the municipality hall on Monday to discuss the crisis. The mayor of the town shared the Israeli company’s argument for cutting off their water: that some residents were “illegally stealing water.”

Jeremy Corbyn has confirmed that he has launched a new political party alongside fellow independent lawmaker Zarah Sultana.

In a joint statement published on X on Thursday, the two said that the system was “rigged” when the current government “says there is no money for the poor, but billions for war”.

The pair also cited UK complicity in Israel’s war on Gaza as reason for the need for an alternative party.

“The suspects were identified and arrested… at the Tomorrowland festival… they were formally interrogated and released. The Belgian Federal Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that a criminal investigation is now underway.”

This is a great step forward in the realm of International Law and holding war criminals accountable for their crimes in real time. A “reservists organization” is intending to pay for the accuseds’ legal fees, signaling this is indeed moving forward in the justice system.

From my understanding, the Israelis in question are not barred from travel, but the fact that this is entering court systems in Europe is an unprecedented step forward toward accountability for the atrocities being administered daily in Gaza by Israeli forces and their global network of enablers.

I just want to commend The Hind Rajab Foundation and the Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) and thank all of their hard-working volunteers seeking Justice and Dignity for the Palestinian people. I hope to see this movement spread beyond Brazil and Belgium and upward towards the seats of power that are enabling and partaking actively in the Palestinian Holocaust.

Humanitarian groups have accumulated tens of thousands of trucks’ worth of aid that are in “limbo,” sitting in warehouses awaiting approval for entry into Gaza that may never come, Oxfam said on Thursday — as Israel runs a propaganda campaign attempting to blame its starvation plan on the very aid groups to whom it’s denying access. According to Oxfam, international humanitarian agencies have…
