For me it was encapsulated by doom 3 for the most part. Games with strong dynamic shadows like splinter cell chaos theory and stalker with a mix of shiny specular effects is timeless for me. When I go back to these games the shadows still feel as good as they did when they came out and the lighting perfectly crafting the mood. A lot of modern games now even though their fidelity on paper is much better just always feel extremely flat to me and don't pop out of the screen like they used to. It seems like they're missing contrast and UE5 seems to make this even worse where all the games using it just look like mush

Contrast with Foreplay

and place where Phone Sex falls between them, if it indeed does fall into these categories.

This is a very important question and necessary to developing the field of Marxian study. very-smart

He's that one kid who has a really popular YouTube channel where he reviews toys. At the store I work at, I can even see Ryan's World toys and apparently they have their own original characters. It seems suspicious, like they are exploiting him.

Whether collected by The Brothers Grimm, written by Charles Perrault, Hans Christian Anderson or by other prolific writers or collected by others, which one is your favorite, and why? And it doesn't have to have been adapted by Disney.

I ask this because Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Anderson have been by Special Interest for a while now. My favorite is "The Snow Queen", because unlike most fairytales, it spins the damsel in distress scenario on its head, with the way the heroine saves her boy best friend from the titular snow queen, and along the way meets several different interesting characters. It could make for a great 9 episode miniseries on HBO or something.

So what is your favorite fairytale or fairytale character?

So I went and got myself a disposable and it was a pain in the ass because I had to put in my dad's name and d.o.b to purchase and ship it to because the site wouldn't take my social security #.

Anyway it was supposed to come today and the mail truck came by but my email says it couldn't be delivered. Is that because my dad has to be actually present and it handed off to sign by him?

Can I sign for it even though my license has expired?

I hate this run around, so stupid, when kids get vapes anyway through snapchat or w/e but my ass is stuck having to do it the legal circus way.

I'm imagining as years go by when/if this AI regex code breaks - nobody knows how it works or how to fix it. Am I wrong?

I'm not a programmer and I write shitty code but I can manage to write simple regex to create quick and dirty code. That's a terrible programming choice I know but I never share my code. It's just for me and it works.

As part of my nurse-client relations class in nursing school, I am conducting research on housing insecurity and its connection to health disparities. If you have experienced housing insecurity and are willing to share your experiences, I would be extremely grateful if you could complete the linked survey. Thank you!

Note: not my survey, but I can vouch for the person running it.

Like, for example, Stalin's resignation attempts. When i bring this up in conversation, they usually make it out to be like some evil ploy. They act as if everyone who voted 'yes' during his resignation attempts had be taken out back and shot, even before the session had ended, maybe. And of course every time a positive account of Soviet life/leadership was given to a foreign journalist, an NKVD sniper was perched on a nearby rooftop ready to shoot in case the person said anything wrong.

I've never read Capitalist Realism, but maybe this has something to do with it? Why do these people assume everything was evil and fake in the USSR?

This just happened during Black Friday and I'm still processing it. My sister and her husband Michael went to Walmart for their Black Friday sale. According to them it was absolute chaos - hundreds of people everywhere, barely any workers, total mess.

Michael managed to grab one of the doorbuster deals - a huge 65" TV that was marked down from $899 to $399. Apparently the checkout lines were so insane (staffed by one underpaid employee) that people just started walking out. Like literally just pushing their carts through without paying because there weren't enough workers at registers and the underpaid security guard obviously wasn't getting paid enough to care.

And my sister and Michael joined them. They walked out with a $400 TV because "everyone else was doing it" and "the store's owners should have been better prepared."

The part that really bothers me is they were bragging about it at family dinner yesterday. Right in front of their kids (8 & 10) AND my kids (7 & 12). They were laughing about their "amazing deal" like it was some funny story about outsmarting the system and they are right!

I pulled my sister aside and told her this was basically stealing and sets a horrible example for the kids, who may get fired in the future for not risking their lives to stop the theft of a commodity. She got defensive saying that she recently finally sat down & read some of the theory I'd sent her over the years and that she realized big stores expect this kind of loss during sales and that it's not really stealing because the store "couldn't handle their own sale properly and Joe Biden has done nothing for the working class the past 4 years."

Michael jumped in saying I need to read more Marxist theory on class struggle & how it relates to crimes such as theft and that I'm probably just jealous I didn't get any "deals." I'm honestly disgusted by the whole thing. Later my kids were asking me if it's okay to not pay for stuff when stores are really busy, which just proves my point about what message this sends.

My sister hasn't talked to me since I called her out, and my parents are saying I should apologize for "making drama" and that it's "none of my business" but someone needs to say something, right?

Am I seriously overreacting here? Everyone's acting like this is just normal Black Friday behavior and I feel like I'm going crazy....

I'd have to pick gryphons, for a variety of reasons:

  • Lions are badass, eagles are badass, making gryphons badass squared
  • Historically associated with strength and protection
  • They're often portrayed as having human-level intelligence and how fucking cool would it be to talk to one
  • They would give the absolute best cuddles and you cannot convince me otherwise

My favourite Pokémon is Vaporeon, of course. I also like Eevee and all the other Eeveelutions.

Pikachu shocking Ash with electricity and refusing to go in the Pokéball was cool. Little electric-type comrade defending his freedom. pika-pickaxe
