That's the exact opposite of what the rule is saying! Imagine some poor soul trusting these stupid robots for something of actual consequence

I assume what's happening here is that these LLMs have been hard-coded with a baseline of generic humanist values and to always remain positive and avoid saying anything that could be construed as offensive or harmful, which leads to shit like this where they're simply unable to explain the Rules of Acquisition correctly because the Ferengi were written to be comically greedy assholes who put profit above all else

The alternative is them declaring themselves MechaHitler, but in both cases the outcome is results that are completely useless and/or actively harmful

What a useless fucking technology. Also, as a fun bonus, I've installed several different Firefox addons that try to get rid of the AI Overview box in Google's search results but it keeps coming back because Google wants everyone to see this shit

I should clarify that I mean weird to me, a dumbass who doesn't really know dick about localising things into Japanese

The specific aspect that strikes me as odd from all the Japanese RDR2 Let's Plays I've watched is how the localised Japanese script handles character names: everyone gets one name, and that's it- usually their first name. Arthur Morgan, for example, is only EVER referred to as "アーサー" and I don't think I've seen his surname once in any of the Japanese subtitles.

It just seems really off when the gang is trying to ingratiate themselves with snooty aristocratic Southern plantation owners or politicians and everyone's just on a first name basis. Same with how older gang members like Herr Strauss or Miss Grimshaw just get called "Leopold" or "Susan" by even the youngest members of the gang

What makes this stick out to me is that this is the first time I've seen a Japanese localisation do this. In the Japanese version of RDR1, John Marston is ジョン・マーストン and is referred to variably as John, Marston, John Marston or Mr. Marston exactly like he is in English. Were RDR2's localisers just really lazy or something and didn't want to deal with surnames?

I have old fashioned reflectors BUT I also got a ton of these from AliExpress and stuck them on my bikes because I think they look cool

Edit: By "these" I mean these

Some random passerby made fun of me for wearing a mask for the first time last week. It was rather amusing

Doug was making self-deprecating jokes about going bald over 15 years ago. James is in an unfortunate position where he can't change his look because its so tied to the character that is his job. Like a bald, bearded AVGN would just be weird, but so is middle-aged dad AVGN. The character and his schtick only really worked with the youthful energy of a guy in his early 20s and it's depressing he's probably stuck having to do the same shit until he's a senior citizen

Fighting games always had the most detailed character models in the PS1 and PS2 days for this reason and I remember being disappointed when character models in fighting games on the 360 didn't seem that impressive compared to other games

It's not a novel observation or anything but man these people do really live in opposite land

No, they were very prevalent from sixth gen onwards. Every fighting game, not just DOA, had almost DOA-level jiggle physics but they were in a bunch of other games too

To illustrate the horniness levels of game developers in this era, during the making of the RE1 remake for the GameCube, the devs held a meeting to decide on the colour of Jill Valentine's panties on one of her alternate costumes since many of the game's pre-rendered camera angles had been specifically chosen to allow for upskirts. Shinji Mikami caught wind of this and made them change all of the camera angles. Jill still has ridiculous jiggle physics even on her default STARS uniform

I'm sorry, but this is simply inaccurate and I cannot abide by such historical revisionism. None of the "Classic"-era PS1 Lara Croft games had jiggle physics. They couldn't even give her in-game model her iconic braid in the first game, what makes you think they could waste extra processing power on her gazongas

Over the years I've heard several FAKE gamers make references to Tomb Raider's supposedly outrageous jiggle physics and it always annoys me. Lara Croft's sexualisation was mostly confined to cringy 90s video game marketing. The "Legend" era did feature physics on her chest but it was pretty understated compared to the sort of extreme jello action you saw in basically every Japanese game, but this was also after Lara's peak popularity and international sex symbol status had faded

The music was the one consistently nice thing about the series, even if XIII-2's soundtrack choices were a bit puzzling. The story and characters were just straight up bad and they retconned the universe's cosmology in every entry. Gameplay was a hot mess too but by the third game they hit a stage where it mostly felt like a real game

All glory to the Nerd, death to the Walkerite heretics

Half the game had bouncy upbeat pop songs with cheesy lyrics on a permanent loop while you were exploring the game's mostly barren levels and doing basic fetch quests, making you feel like you were trapped in a 12-year-old girl's iPod

It would've been a perfect thematic fit for FFX-2 where you were playing as a girl idol group but in FFXIII-2 it was just one of the many puzzling things about that trilogy cat-confused

spoilerYes I have had the OST on my phone since 2011

Protestant work ethic is a hell of a thing

"THERE ARE NO BLACK PEOPLE IN RIVENDELL, IT'S UNREALISTIC"

frothingfash

To be honest, I absolutely would expect the cast to be way more diverse if the movies were shot today. It's shocking how white those movies are- I'm pretty sure the haradrim are the only on-screen POC in the entire trilogy. The Hobbit movies tried to correct for this by having POC extras in the crowd scenes in Laketown, and some of them may have even had a few lines. Still no actual characters though

It's kinda funny that the terrible Dungeons and Dragons movie with Jeremy Irons that came out a year before Fellowship had an elf portrayed by a black actor as one of the main characters

I have made a terrible mistake

A while back I made a post about a pair of nice cheap Chinese IEMs I got from AliExpress, and to continue in the same vein, here's another post about a cheap AE find.

I got these Xiaomi Mijia Bluetooth bone conduction earphones because I wanted something I could easily wear with a bicycle helmet. They cost about 12 dollars depending on the seller, but if you're familiar with AliExpress' coin system, you can easily find them at 60% off, at which price they're a steal. They don't look or feel too cheap either- you could tell me these were 30 bucks and I'd believe you.

I found my previously existing wireless earbuds to be a pretty bad fit for cycling: not only are the touch controls fiddly to operate while riding (or even when you're just standing still, touch controls suck), but they also block too much outside noise which isn't great for safety.

These fix both of those issues- they have nice definite physical buttons, and since they don't block your ear canals, you stay much more aware of your surroundings. When they're off or not playing anything, they don't affect your hearing at all, so you can just leave them on and forget they're there entirely, especially since they only weigh about 26 grams

These are my first bone conduction earphones and some of the customer reviews question if they use true bone conduction, but they sound fine to me. The sound quality is perfectly adequate- certainly for the price, especially at the previously mentioned -60%. They're not as loud or as bassy as other headphones and you will struggle to hear anything if you're next to busy traffic or a construction zone, but I'll take that tradeoff for safety

They seem to leak a lot at high volumes though so if you're sitting in a quiet room listening to TrueAnon at full blast, everyone in the vicinity will probably hear what brace-dark-cowboy is saying, which may or may not be something you want

The promised battery life is 11 hours and this seems to be true from my experiences. I've yet to even hear a low battery beep even after 8+ hours of use

Me seeing this graphic in a Youtube video

"Buddha-type valve???" monke-beepboop

(These are the three types of valves you find on bicycle tires: Presta, Dunlop and Schrader, often also called French, English and American valves, respectively)

I somehow didn't know this before and I find it really funny

Just a bunch of crap about how Russia is going to invade the EU or collapse imminently and also videos of random American military youtubers jerking off over how AWESOME and BADASS the Finnish military is

I did not expect to run into Bored Ape t-shirts in a Finnish dollar store in the year 2025

Thank you Mr. Altman, spending five minutes to check the reviews on whatever doodad I was considering to buy was way too much effort

Why would I want to read the actual reviews posted by the actual humans who actually bought and used the thing over an incredibly generic one paragraph summary that always skews positive
