Its the first time really that the consoles haven't actually differed that much and been backwards compatible.

Like yeah the ps2 could play ps1 games but the jump in graphics was so massive that no developer was making cross platform games. Ps3 was another generational leap but also changed hardware a lot making backwards compat not really a thing and same for ps4.

Now ps4 and 5 are basically the same console developers stand very little to lose releasing their game on both platforms. Making an exclusive for the newer console which sold pretty poorly on both sides with still massive previous gen active user bases you'd basically be shooting yourself in the foot making a current gen only game.

As a business I'd want my game to cover as many platforms as possible so the ps4 or switch is gonna be the base target depending on what I would be making.

Its honestly pretty alright I'm having a lot of fun with it. Better than DMC 2 I was expecting something a lot worse.

My quest to find a fromsoft game I don't like continues.

My drive to finish all the persona games has waned somewhat after finishing persona 1 and its manga.

Persona 2 IS i managed to finish as its my commute game and Persona 3 and 5 i haven't touched for a few months.

Overall the story is definitely one of the more wacky ones in the series but easy to enjoy. Gameplay is the PSP version of the game is so easy it practically plays itself, didnt have to make a new persona once just relied on story given personas and made it through. There's a lot of side content i missed but it didnt really seem that worth doing other than for completions sake the game does drag on a bit after a while. Also that side content is so hidden away discovering it organically would require talking to basically everyone after each story dungeon which is incredibly boring.

Still so far Persona 1 is my favourite out of all of the games along with its manga

Playing through the dlc I was wondering are spirit ashes the easy mode or are the bosses actually balanced around them? I had an issue with elden ring bosses being so hyper aggressive in fights with attack chains that last 3 months giving you a window for like 5 seconds to attack which as a strength user seemingly was impossible to do anything without a not strength build. Taking any boss head on feels like a challenge run in an older fromsoft games some elden ring bosses gave me more shit than sekiro.

But when I summon the fight actually kinda feels balanced around it. The attack chain agro being taken away momentarily so you can deliver some damage then playing a kind of hot potato until the fight ends.

Usually easy modes in fromsoft games are a limited resource, humanity for summoning players that also puts you at risk of invasion or finite use healing items to use when you run out of flasks (not ds2) the concept was to make the game easier there needed to be a risk nothing was given for free.

Now that's what's strange about spirit summons, they're practically free. Outside of a little fp/hp cost there is no risk and no drawback to summoning them. Which makes me wonder if the game was intentionally balanced around players using them for every boss fight.

Thoughts?
