Reading this ruins the magic.

A swarm of bees attack a drunk man during celebrations marking Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, in Guwahati, India, Monday, March 25, 2024.

Someone posted this a few years ago, but there was a house that was on fire. I believe neighbors of the resident went inside after the fire and discovered some sort of dungeon or released some kids held captive or something of that nature.

Later cops would be seen going in and out of the house, collecting things, but I don’t think they went after the person who lived there. They might’ve lit the house on fire again - or perhaps they were “investigating” and lit it on fire in the first place.

The details are a bit fuzzy. But the whole thing was recorded and live streamed on Facebook by the neighbors who were suspicious and angry that the cops and possibly firefighters were trying to hide something.

There were some articles about it but I’m only remembering it now due to a dream I had

Found it https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/aug/03/facebook-posts/conspiracy-linking-milwaukee-police-alleged-sex-tr/

I googled “residents live stream police entering and exiting house on fire” and filtered it to 2020 and 2021

[CW: is this body shaming? I'm not sure.]

I genuinely find "conventionally attractive" people (like celebrities), well, kind of ugly IMO.

This is particularly evident when you look at game mods where people can create what they consider to be the most attractive characters their imagination allows. I find most of them grotesque even. Exaggerated forms.

Che Guevara though, Che Guevara was hot. So maybe I like some conventionally attractive looks. But you know what I mean. I don't like muscle men or hyper feminine women. I prefer androgyny almost.

Anyway, just a weird shower thought.

I'm looking to set up a machine for my stepdad to record and edit music on. Audacity is the first choice that comes to mind, but I'm wondering if there are better/more fitting to usecase options out there.

Fun fact: The custom cups to put booze in? $35. The babysitting service’s nighttime shift that takes care of your kids after 10pm so you can go get drunk and fuck your wife? Only $27.

I'm reading Before the Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus about how the USA shifted to the right an unthinkable amount between FDR and Reagan. Obviously there are a lot of things that don't survive transposition across 75 years of political realignment but I am starting to think nearly all dems would find themselves to Nixon's right if they were sent through a time machine.

I use Hexbear on my phone mostly and almost every time I open it it will look like this. To fix it I have to reload it several times and if I click on anything it almost always starts doing it again. Wondering if anyone else has this issue and of there is a fix. Thanks in advance comrades.

Supposing I'm Fred The Fed and I want to shut down Hexbear.net

What if I try to make a case that admins tolerate sharing copyrighted material in violation of Statute XYZ, so the site is illegal and should be seized.

You might say, "Copyright laws are dumb, man! Who cares!" but that doesn't matter. Tell that to the law.

Should we get a lawyer's advice on this? What steps does the site need to take to avoid heat?

I'm trying to empathise with them... I get why people become radicals of other kinds... but saying no music, no sex, live by the book, behead those who disagree... what part of that makes people think "I want to get into this, this sounds fun"?

The Arab world has valid grievances, which motivated 9-11 for example, but there's more to it than that.

Do you think this is a phenomenon? And do you think that Patriarchy created this? If so, how? And maybe why?

Merci.

Anybody have any tips for keeping calm when a chud says their usual callous shit? I'm still a bit piqued from today.

Edit: Thank you all for your helpful comments. I greatly appreciate it.

Can anyone suggest sites for pen pals/ chat where you could find a person uninvolved with this site who is on the same page on left and queer issues? In the past I tried the new friend/hobby setting on the major dating apps but, I find they almost make impossible these days to sort for someone to talk to that has your same niche interests.

It's just a simple yes or no, whether you think at least one or more of the candidates on your ballot list shares a lot of your concerns, beliefs, et values to at least vote for them

If you don't approve any of them, just don't mark them, and write down "I don't like any of these candidates" as a reason

I don't like "first past the post" for this reason... it just perpetuates the idea of "spoiled" votes...

If so that's a huge marketing failure. It makes no sense now that the name and logo have nothing to do with birds.

God Elon is a dumbass if they're still called tweets.

I really prefer hardcopies but would rather not buy from like fucking amazon yk? Feels hypocritical to buy theory even more so to buy it from some corpo. Are there any leftist co-ops selling books online or should i try to find a small book store near me that might sell what im looking for if im lucky?

Ideally i am looking for something cheap but i have the money to pay a little extra if it means im not giving my money to the bourgeois

Hi there! A good friend of mine is working on a research paper, and was hoping to find some more information and documentation about the subject. I want to help him out, and I figured that this community would be a good place to ask, so if anyone has books, papers, or other things to check out, I'd appreciate it very greatly!

For more context on the paper, he gave me this understanding:

It starts from the premise that westward expansion in the USA imposed a settler-colonial understanding of nature and purpose onto land, which considers it as a fungible commodity that can be "developed" without regard for its specific character.

It indicates that as the US was founded on that understanding of land, it still defines how the US and its citizens engage with the land nowadays.

Considering the above, it intends to do the following:

A) Provide a historical overview of settler interactions with the land (e.g. Homestead acts, Dawes act)

B) Explain what that reflects about settler relationships to the land (as opposed to indigenous relationships to it), especially with regard to its valuation as privately owned and fungible commodity.

C) Identify how this relationship to land leads to modern issues, especially in agriculture and housing.

Recommendations for any relevant readings would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a million, comrades rat-salute-2
