That's a contender for both the best AND funniest.

Corri Bush and Liz Cheney on the anti-Trump unity ticket. The sundowning registered Republicans who survived COVID show up at their polling places, see Bush/Cheney, and Pavlovian reflex kicks in, leaving them completely bamboozled by the ploy because they are incapable of telling what year it is. Dems still only get 51% of the popular vote in spite of carrying roughly 17% of registered Republicans.

If the democrats want to maximize their chances of losing, they should replace him with the only politician to have ever lost an election to Trump hillary

[–] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 43 points 3 months ago (1 children)

As stupid as this sounds its probably way more likely than you think. You must have political clout to make such a bid and only Hilary has the clout capable.

[–] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 43 points 3 months ago (2 children)

my partner said bernie sanders and I said not a chance, the democrat establishment would never do it.

[–] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 27 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Bernie's also older than Biden so its not really addressing the main issue.

[–] Evilbunbun@hexbear.net 16 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah like even if Bernie did a term we’d be facing the same issue a year later.

only way it could happen is if biden and kamala both die in like a blimp accident and they want someone to eat shit in the general

[–] ComradeLove@hexbear.net 41 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Michelle Obama is the answer to all of the above.

Kamala Harris is the most likely pick. She was pushed for by Jim Clyburn, and his endorsement is what handed Biden South Carolina, and he has a lot of sway with black Democratic voters. Passing her over would be seen as a snub to them and that's a major Dem voting block that they can't afford to alienate. But she has negative charisma and the White House basically shoved her in a closet to do nothing so she doesn't have much to show in the way of accomplishments. And she's awful in debates - better than Trump or Biden but anyone who remembers the 2020 primary remembers that the only thing she did was torpedo Biden's standing and then getting smacked around for being a cop.

Gavin Newsome (governor of California) is a big deal in the party but "governor of Commiefornia" is a position with a lot of heat that might not play well in swing states.

Personally I think Dems' best shot is Gretchen Whitmer (gov of Michigan) - midwestern, has a bit of a name on the national stage from being targeted by CHUDS for assassination so she'd have a lot of cred in the fight against MAGA. Josh Shapiro (gov of PA) is floated a lot too, but I don't know much about him.

The funniest option? hunter

Can’t believe no one has yet commented on Gruesome Gavin’s ex-wife being Don Jr’s fiancé. The potential for the turbo-neoliberal to get dragged down into talking about his hog on a debate stage is real

Best chance would probably be Gretchen Whitmer or Andy Beshar. There are a bunch of possible boring candidates that would smoke trump.

Funniest would be Eric Adams.

Gavin Newsom is, imo, unelectable on a national stage, and is probably actually a worse choice than just sticking with Joe Biden.

Gavin Newsom is, imo, unelectable on a national stage, and is probably actually a worse choice than just sticking with Joe Biden.

Is this solely because he's the democratic governor of California?

[–] Evilbunbun@hexbear.net 17 points 3 months ago

I think people are saying that because he looks like if Mitt Romney did Yoga and drank Kombucha.

I get it, he looks kinda sleazy. But give him 5 months on the trail and the comparison between soup brain biden and Gavin would be night and day. Far younger and quick on his feet. I seriously think the only person worse than Joe is Hilary, and only because she already lost to him. At least her brain still works. Kamala is a weak alternative, but Still i think has a better shot than Joe, even if its minor

really? anyone other than biden/harris will get to wash their hands of direct association to the Crimes, which is the biggest hurdle. i can't imagine many people outside of california are aware of how shit he is

I'm seeing a guy called Gavin Newsom listed as the most likely replacement. I don't know anything about him.

[–] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 42 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

he fucking sucks. he is the governor of california and a neoliberal scumbag that makes obama look like mao

[–] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 36 points 3 months ago

Sounds like the most likely candidate

[–] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 28 points 3 months ago (1 children)

my most likely prediction if it actually happens is of course the Veep

kamala-coconut-tree

[–] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 28 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They'll never give it to Kamala even though it's probably the best decision for them. Have Biden resign, then she fills his place as the VP does. You avoid most conspiracy allegations of backroom dealings because its all above board. You excite the base with the first woman president (and she's black gasp). But otherwise a milquetoast politician.

But this is the party of Van Bueren, they gotta do their back room deals and Kamala has nothing to bring to the table for them. So its going to be the most corrupt person in the DNC cedar-rapids

Newsom is most likely, Whitmer with highest odds to win imo.

Funniest is Hill dawg. Libs posting is going to be unhinged from the previous madness when she loses in a rematch.

Picking a swing state governor is the safest bet.

  1. Gretchen Whitmer (MI gov)
  2. PA gov?
  3. ?

Candidates that would still potentially lose, ordered by losing odds.

  1. volcel-kamala
  2. pete
  3. Gruesome Gavin (California governor)

All these options fundamentally suck, but Dems have options for their kind of voter.

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 18 points 3 months ago

Any white male democrat (beside Buttigieg) could beat Trump right now

The stock market loving neoliberal suburbanites want a dem, since they can't get a "normal" republican. It's not 2004 the John Kerry strategy would work in this specific case, and as long as Clinton isn't running its not 2016 either

Newsom, JB Pritzker, and Andy Beshear would all squeak by comfortably

[–] LENINSGHOSTFACEKILLA@hexbear.net 16 points 3 months ago

Newsom is most likely, imo, but god damn it Hillary would be so fucking funny.

Please, someone find the lathe!
