As we all know here, material conditions have progressively been getting worse and worse. Based on pretty much all political theory, crime rates should also be going up with worse material conditions. But they haven't, in fact, crime rates have been going consistently down for the past 30 or so years. Why is that?

Apparently the last outreach was unsuccessful, because while a few people showed up to the attempted screening on Tuesday another user decided to invite everyone except for me to an unplanned screening of The Sopranos.

one day last year I was in the gym and went to the lat pulldown machine in the middle of my workout. someone had it on 200 lbs or something, so I pulled the pin out of the weight stack, and the entire attachment fell on the back of my head. this was a really heavy metal attachment, must have been like 20-30 lbs fell on my head. I got really dizzy for ~30 seconds and had a big bump on my head, but that was somehow all that happened.

to this day, I'm kind of scared and cautious whenever I change the weight on those machines.

This is a question primarily for the queer comrades but of course any of yall can comment.

Recently I saw some criticism of the symbol's use because so few of those who wear it ever had to actually experience it.

I'm looking for advice about reporting labor law violations in California, USA. A good friend of mine works in the medical field, and they (and their coworkers) are routinely victims of wage theft. "Overtime" is policed to the extent that it is normal for them to clock out at exactly 8 hours, but continue working for 10-15 minutes.

My friend is annoyed by this, but is afraid of retaliation, and generally likes the job. Can anyone tell me how to report this anonymously? Cursory internet searches make it seem like the reporting party has to be identifiable.

Pasta is made from dough consisting mainly of flour and water. So essentially pasta is a other form of bread.

Lasagna is most commonly made from alternating layers of pasta, tomato sauce, veggies, cheese, and meat.

With all of that in mind, does this mean a big Mac is a lasagna? Does this also mean deep dish pizzas are lasagna?

I'm going to an event soon and the last time I was there there were some of those awful street preachers with megaphones shouting bigotry. They're a nuisance and nobody wants them there, but it's a public festival and evidentially they're allowed to be there.

I tried looking online ()and most of the advice was stupid lib shit, ranging from, "Call the cops and tell them they're violating statute blah blah blah" or, "Just ignore them, you can't change their minds and engaging just feeds their persecution complex." Obviously the cops do nothing, I don't care about changing their minds or what they think I just want to shut them up. But I also don't want to get arrested and if possible, it'd be nice to avoid disturbing the other people further.

Most likely, I'm just gonna have to endure it, but I thought I'd raise the question for brainstorming bc it feels like a common enough situation that other people will encounter it too. Best I can think is screaming something back at them

For years I thought "Bring Em Young University" was a joke about the mormon practice of marrying girls to old men. Come to find out the religion was started by a guy "Brigham Young" after whom an actual university is named and nobody thinks that's weird at all.

I thought "Joe Mansion" was some kind of bizarro world "Joe the Plumber". Maybe joking about rich conservatives putting on affectations of being working class. He is actually a politician and his name is spelled "Manchin" and some people seem to think he's on the left.

This actually has a real-world purpose. I'm going to get a custom baseball jersey made with the player name "KINSEY" and player number "03" to wear during pride events this coming june. I just need a good team name for it.
