Accidentally spooked this guy while paddling, which I feel bad about, but he's gorgeous in flight!

Like when i look at communties it doesn't show other big ones out there. And also all the subscribed counts are super duper off. On top of that all doesn't even seem to see some of the biggest posts of the day from across lemmy. Anyone know whats uyo with that?

You can (and should) request reimbursement for the diminished value of your car as a result of the accident.

Insurance companies almost never offer to pay for the diminished value of a claimant’s vehicle unless the claimant asks. Insurers will intentionally keep this information to themselves if the claimant doesn’t bring it up.

If you do qualify, the insurance company must pay the diminished value of your vehicle by law. Failure to do so may be grounds for an insurance bad faith claim.

Fishing spots in Atlanta? (yall.theatl.social)

I recently stopped in to Thompson Park in Cobb county and noticed it had a catch and release pond. Reminded me that fishing is a childhood joy of mine. Now, I'd like to introduce my kids to it as well. But I grew up in South Florida and I don't know jack about fishing in Georgia. Let alone any ideal places to try.

Do you have any fishing spot recommendations for the metro area, especially on the east side of town? Doesn't need to be anything fancy or the world's greatest spot. Just a spot to have some good ol fishing fun.

If anyone is interested in contributing a new logo for yall.theatl.social, I'd look forward to posting it as the primary graphic for this Lemmy instance.

I'm not terribly handy with Illustrator/Photoshop, so any creative contributions would be much appreciated.

And, I would be glad to add a reimbursement on OpenCollective to make note of the financial value of the contribution, which would be funded when funds are available.

Are the rules wrong? Or is the site config wrong?

What gives, @michael@yall.theatl.social?

We’re about to enter another Reddit mass migration phase starting tonight. We’ve already attracted the users most actively engaged with the protests and Reddit’s changes—users who are driven enough to put in the effort to grow the Fediverse.

Now we need to make it feel like home to casual users and lurkers. Not just attract them for a few visits, but keep it interesting enough that they stay here in the coming weeks/months.

Major kudos to all the developers working day and night to bring us familiar-feeling apps and interfaces on insanely short timelines. But what can the rest of us do to make Kbin and Lemmy feel like home to all the new Reddit refugees? Populate Lemmy and Kbin with as much quality content as you can find!

Over the next few weeks, fill your magazines/communities with as much good the content as you can. Post comments and subscribe to things. Click that upvote button on content or comments you like.

Not sure where to find good content? Ironically, check out your favorite subreddits for ideas. Make sure we have the best of the content you can find on Reddit. See a good article or link? Post it here! Don’t be shy about posting to interactive communities like Ask Lemmy- we’re after volume.

For OC Reddit posts, see if there’s a non-Reddit page to post here. I don’t know whether it’s acceptable to copy text posts, but if you do, make sure you at least give credit/copy a link to the original post.

Basically, do everything you can to engage over the next few weeks and avoid lurking. Show off the Fediverse and welcome the next group of Reddit refugees to their new home.

This was a pretty cool interview I heard yesterday on the local npr station. I’m no fan of running and I found it pretty inspiring

Announcing on /r/Atlanta(?) (yall.theatl.social)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by michael@yall.theatl.social to c/general@yall.theatl.social

I want to announce this on /r/Atlanta, but I know for sure the mods will squash the post. Mentioning the theATL.social mastodon site on /r/Atlanta apparently got me shaddowbanned 🫠

Any ideas or other subreddits where there would be a more pleasant reception?

Creating new communities? (yall.theatl.social)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Nundrum@yall.theatl.social to c/general@yall.theatl.social

I'd like to have one for local (sub)urban gardening. Between the clay ground and the ever-present shade, it's a challenge here in Atlanta. But I don't see how to create a community for that here.
