Looks like Google is dumping the podcasts app and moving it all to Youtube music.

Pixel 8 Pro will be the same as the 7 Pro but the normal Pixel 8 will cost $100 more than the Pixel 7

I'm sure there used to be a way to remove spoilers from Sport notifications that Google sends. I can't seem to find any settings for it anymore, other than turning them off altogether.

Anyone know if you can still turn off spoilers from Sports notifications?

When I try to use Google Meet to call my wife, daughter, mom, whatever, it always wants me to send an email to them to schedule a meeting. They all have gmail accounts, and that's what I am trying to call them with.

Is Meet supposed to be an alternative to Zoom? As far as I know, you can't just call someone on Zoom and their computer/phone rings (like MS Teams).

Does Meet not place on-demand calls (like WhatsApp), or am I doing it wrong?

So, what's happened to Wikipedia pages in search results? Maybe this is just happening to me but I can never find them.

For example, I searched for a 20 year old movie I was watching so I could read about the movie. Nothing comes up except entertainment blogs, which I never read. I specifically put Wikipedia in the search and I get articles in different languages.

The only way to get to the page I'm looking for is to search for an actor and hit the link to their wiki page in the blurb Google puts at the top.

Is anyone else having similar issues getting results that you're actually looking for?

I'm a Google Fi customer and have location turned on, so Maps asks me to review places I've been. Yesterday I was asked to review a hair salon in a city about 35 miles away, Maps claiming I had called it 2 weeks ago. But I haven't called it -- the number isn't in my call history so even if I managed to randomly butt dial, that hasn't happened. What gives? Is it possible my number was spoofed and somehow Fi thinks the call was made by me?

I’ve been trying to request a Google Takeout archive for a few days now and always get this email a few seconds after requesting it. Tried zip, tar.gz, different products etc.

Anyone else?

Google is launching new privacy tools to allow users to have more control over unwanted personal images online and ensure explicit or graphic photos do not appear easily in search results.

Updates to Google policies on personal explicit images mean that users will be able to remove non-consensual and explicit imagery of themselves that they no longer wish to be visible in searches.

The update means that even if an individual created and uploaded explicit content to a website, and no longer wishes for it to be available on search, they will be able to request to remove it from Google search. The forms to submit requests have also been made more simple. The policy does not apply to images users are currently and actively commercialising.

The policy also applies to websites containing personal information.

Google will also roll out a new dashboard, only available in the US in English initially, that will let users know search results that display their contact information. Users can then quickly request the removal of these results from Google. The tool will also send a notification when new results with a user’s information pop up in search.

A new blurring setting in SafeSearch will also be implemented as the default on Google search for users who do not already have SafeSearch filtering on. Explicit imagery, adult or graphic violent content will be blurred by default when it appears in search results. The setting can be turned off at any time, unless you are a supervised user on a public network that has kept this setting as default and locked it.

For instance, in a search for images under “injury”, explicit content will be blurred to prevent users from being shown graphic content.

Google initially announced this safeguard in February and it will be launched globally in August.

Hi all,

I'm trying to add quick links in a Google Doc to another Google Doc on the same account. Notion does this easily by typing @DocNameHere, and it magically works. Is there a function like this? I'm getting tired of going to the Doc I want to link, hitting Share, copying the link, back to the Doc I was working in, paste. There has to be an easier way.

Thanks!

So I have a question, I just purchased a Google Nest Mini 2 so that I could add a smart device that only connects to Google Assistant. I set everything up, I go to add the device, find it, select it, sign into link the accounts and it says “Device is Linked to account” but then Immediately follows with “Something went Wrong. Try again.”

Is there a step I’m missing, I’ve used HomeKit before but it seems that adding device is completely different through Google Home and I’m at my wits end.

Any advice would be nice and I apologize if I’m posting in the wrong community.

I think it's still better than Samsung's first fold, which is good.
