I'm making a Halloween costume that features my head inside a box. All good if In use my hands to support said box, but I'd like my hands to be free.

This seems like a solved problem, got any hints on how I might support the box so its stable while leaving my arms and hands free?

Hello Making Friends

I am making a footprint for a tent from tyvek: should I hem the exterior so that the fabric folds over from the top side and is sewn (or taped) to the underside? What about adding gromets?

I am thinking that the hem would keep ground water from seeping between the tent and foot print if it were to rain.

I am also thinking this is too much work for very little benefit, and an unfinished edge is simple, easier, and just as durable (this is freaking House wrap).

Thoughts?

Thought I'd share this one as my first post here because it makes me smile every time.

The pattern is Lorelei Cardigan by Deni Sharpe who is one of my favourite crochet designers, her stuff is always fairly simple to make and just looks good.

So I'd made my own mustard yellow version of this and worn it basically every day for a whole year (you can probably see it's a bit worse for wear in this photo, and believe me I've worn it a LOT more since!) and my grandma was very taken with it. Her favourite colour is blindingly bright red, so it was obvious what I had to do.

Most of the red one was made while doing a day-long marathon of the LotR extended editions, and my wrists were sore the next day. But the whole thing worked up pretty quickly and I reckon I managed to get her pockets attached much more securely than I ever did mine, so that's a win!

Needless to say, she loved it. Major granddaughter points right there.

I've done lots of block quilts but never pieced one together like this. It's going to have a moon and stars as well, possibly some clouds if I feel ambitious

If there's one thing makers have, it's a lot of stuff. Both tools to create things, and created thing themselves! I'm really curious what storage solutions everyone has used. We're thinking about a furniture/house rearranging and I'm going to need to commit to a system soon.

I've looked at #gridfinity (https://gridfinity.xyz/) and it seems ok, but definitely skewed more toward the small parts, electronic components and 3d printing world. I have a lot of woodworking tools, fasteners and hardware and home DIY stuff as well as electronics, so I need a much more holistic solution. Right now I'm leaning towards a French cleat system along a couple walls and just building custom shelves/boxes for big stuff and then trying to find a way to organize all my smart parts and just attach that system to the cleats, but I definitely want to see more ideas. I've looked at Harbor Freight boxes and some custom 3d printed solutions, but post your organization systems here!

It's amazing how many hacks there are for the LACK. Ikea hacks in general amuse me greatly. :)

Like I said yesterday, trying to get some content on here while we wait on more creators to join. But if you haven't found his channel yet, basically everything Under Dunn does is gold.

Stumbled upon this on YouTube and thought it might fit here, but happy to hear the community's thoughts on if bushcraft fits into Making. Obviously I believe in a wide tent, and what is bushcraft if not outdoor Making with basic tools?

But anyway, I love simple little usable 3d prints like this. Figurines are cool, but function over form is like my personal printing preference.
