My 2 eldest boys (15&17) are both autistic (may factor into it?) both say morally they think piracy is wrong, and they don't want to consume media that's not being paid for.

This doesn't really impact anything as to be honest almost everything they watch is on youtube (acquired via a Turkish account...).

I wonder if their view will change when they realise just how expensive it is to subscribe to all the services to watch everything!

Just curios if anyone else has had a similar thing. In some ways I do empathise with them, they have been taught stealing is wrong!

This morning I was listening to spotify, then, it stopped working. My APK is the same one that ky girlriend is using and it totally works for her but for me, it says that "the app needs to be updated" and not even the actual songs appear anymore.

Companies need to realize piracy is just free advertising. Denuvo just makes me dislike the company and not even want to play the game in most cases.

I use a SoulSeek and a modded Spotify app to listen to and download everything I want for free, then buy the vinyls or flacs directly from the artists I want to support, or go see them live. Music should be free for everyone, but artists need to get paid for making great music.

Movies and TV shows I don't really have an argument for. Multi-billion dollar companies own all the studios, save your money and setup a plex server.

Just curious if anyone else feels the same way. Like i have game pass, I could easily play many of their games legally... But because the launcher is such hot garbage. I choose to pirate and sync my saves between devices using syncthing.

Just had a random thought, it doesnt work with books when you use hosted versions of chatgpt etc, but for LLMs that can be run locally with no restrictions, can it generate scripts that with the right info remove DRM from things like books?

This is what I want to ask. From more technical point of view related to protecting ourselves from malware when installing pirated softare.

Virustotal,MetaDefender and MalwareByte scanning are not enough(for me at least) to be sure there are not any malicious code hidden.

Even in virtual machines if we run to test that software, with all sys internals on a prepared windows virtual machine with tools from FlareVM, there are chances that the malware will check for some identifiers in order to stop the malicous execution.

Hello everybody, so basically i never got a virus pirating before, and now i have. I dont even know how but i just did. It got all my passwords (steam, epic games, etc.) and i dont know what to do. I ran multiple AV softwares but nothing was detected. I changes all those passwords, so hopefully nothing more will happen, but i know that the virus is still there. Nothing too important was done, the person sold like 2 cs2 stickers (that i got for free), and one insurgency sandstrom collectible (that i got for free) on the steam market for a few cents. Except that nothing happened. Since i changed the passwords nothing happened.

Now, my question is whats my best bet? Is it to just reinstall windows? Will the reinstall 100% solve it, or no? What do i do? Thankfully i dont have anything too important on my pc, so even if i delete everything on it it wont matter much. What do yall say? I fucked up guys, i know, please help me. My biggest worry rn is the virus infecting the other devices in my home network, so can it do that? Thanks for help!
