Johnny Guitar (1954)

After helping a wounded gang member, a strong-willed female saloon owner is wrongly suspected of murder and bank robbery by a lynch mob.

Director: Nicholas Ray

Stars: Joan Crawford • Sterling Hayden (Johnny Guitar) • Mercedes McCambridge

The following year Nicholas Ray directed Rebel Without a Cause

I liked it but my attention did wander in the second half. Visually it's decades ahead of its time although there is a problem. The problem it's TECHNICOLOR. Scenes can look dated and a bit silly due to the garish colors.

The plot has a very unusual element for its day. It features not one but two strong-willed female leads. Joan Crawford and Mercedes McCambridge who is in the photo. Sterling Hayden is best known as the "precious bodily fluids" guy in Dr. Strangelove.

Rant

I got curious about the movie after I saw four nice screengrabs in a Bluesky post. I quote posted it. And then my post disappeared after the fucking lib muted me. Leftist posts on your own profile will make libs block or mute you on sight.
