First time we tried it., but it seems to have gone well - looking forward to them growing quickly (the teacher said most people are really surprised at how fast grafted cacti grow).

Bonus: my dog going "can I eat these?": dog tax

So now you have two cacti growing out of the same plant? Cool!

Like an apple-pear tree or something

Yup! Some cacti don't grow well (or at all) directly in soil and have to be grafted, and most cacti will actually grow much faster when done so according to the teacher that held the workshop.
