I tried to help deescalate a little tussle at a San Francisco nightclub where a progressive-minded young woman (who’d had a few drinks) became very upset seeing a red hat on a guy at the back of the dance floor. It was a parody hat!
(Upon learning you mistook a parody for the real thing, you’d hope to apologize instead of trying to save face by declaring yourself to still be in the right… but, alcohol.)
