Hi all,

Okay so my Galaxy Tab A7 Lite has arrived. I did some searching and it seems like there are a million options as far as replacing / hacking the rom.

So, all I want to do is have root access, and be rid of any bloat that’s built in. I prefer whatever is most tried and true, and whatever does not have any iffy components still. Like, I want everything to function without glitches, I want to get the most out of my hardware, and other than that, I really don’t want a 100-step process.

So, recommends? What’s available that’s very reliable and what does it offer me?

(Eg: GSI+Root, Lineage, Havoc, et al)

I appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I want to own what I have that’s why I wanna root. I also want decent battery life and performance. All the hardware manufacturers seem to cram as much in there as they can, so you’ll quickly find yourself wanting something better. I got the Zenpad to be able to give me like 20 hours of battery life when using it as an e-reader. I wish rooting and super user etc. steps for this were as easy as that device was.

My phone is iPhone but this is tablet and I want more privilege on this thing. No justification for me not to be able to do absolutely anything and everything I want.

So basically this is where I've landed on this after rooting, moding, etc. all of my electronics for the last 30 years: for devices where I want to customize everything, it's going to be done with a Linux computer to begin with because there's absolutely nothing standing in my way. For other things that I just need to work reliably and not become yet another chore, I buy some product. So I would buy a thermostat, but build my own NAS (with a 3D printed 7-bay case).

I'm beyond sick - as I think you might be too - of all the extra stuff I have to keep up with whenever I jailbreak/root/whatever a device just so I don't fuck it up with some careless action or update. I just don't have the same amount of free time and mental energy to dedicate to this stuff anymore. I wish I did though.

Yeah I’m kinda the same way. The problem is I want this Android device I just need to gain root and take out google’s always running always spying stuff. That’s all I need to change.

The entire mobile device market is an organized crime enterprise at this point. So it’s a matter of just getting what you need out of it as easily as you can. I definitely don’t allocate any time to this stuff for fun. I used to, but now I just want to do what I need and that’s it.
