also immigrants are easier to exploit than citizens of a country (less worker rights, lower wages, immigrants sometimes have to work illegally, discrimination, etc.), so employers (in low-skilled jobs) are generally more likely to hire them.
then you get a proportional increase in non-white workers that white ppl interpret as them "taking their jobs"/"taking over"; a rise in south Asian immigrants (am including Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans too) could help fuel this.
plus identifiable groups of people are useful scapegoats for the bourgeoisie to divide the proletariat, especially with perceived "cultural differences" (hint, hint: )
