I think this is a pretty entertaining game. Good idea

Thanks. Ready to get your age guessed?

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Looking forward to it! Do your worst!

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Alright let's start. What do you do to wind down when you're done for the day?

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Cook dinner, and right now I'm watching Yellowstone Season 2.

If I weren't doing that, I would likely be playing a video game.

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ooh I haven't seen Yellowstone. I hear it's good though.

What video games do you typically play?

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yellowstone is fantastic! I'm loving it

Right now I am playing a lot of Balatro, some Satisfactory, some BG3, some No Mans Sky. Minecraft is also regularly in rotation.

Ooh, an OG gamer. I like it. So far so normal. Everything you've said has been pretty run of the mill 20s to 30s hobbies.

At your current stage of life, do you feel like there's still more to be explored or that you've attained self actualisation?

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Oh man, what a question. I really want to change careers. I want to learn to make furniture. It feels more "lasting" than writing code. So yeah, I have more to do.

[–] folkrav@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Really leaning into that “coder wants to become carpenter” stereotype I see ;) It was one of the things I wanted to do growing up, and is still a skill I’d love to develop. I just didn’t have room to do that kind of work until recently hehe…

To be honest, these days I’m wary of turning fun things or hobbies into work. I’m pretty sure that if I ended up building furniture for other people like I have to write code, I’d start hating it too. Coding tends to pay much better anyway haha…

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well what's stopping you then?

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh I'm working on it. I fiddle around in the shop, learning some really basic skills but getting there.

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay. That's great. What moment in your life do you think had it been any different, you wouldn't be where you are today?

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wow, another interesting question. There are so many. I think the night I meet my wife at the instigation of some friends would be one of those. My life certainly changed significantly then.

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, how long have you and your wife been together?

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay, i think I have a guess now. I might be severely undershooting or overshooting based on the information, but i think you're: 49

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This has been a ton of fun. Thank you for taking the time to do it. I was very careful in my answers, hoping not to give too much away. I think I was mostly successful.

I'm pretty impressed at the 49 number though!

You're actually 12 years too young. I just celebrated birthday 61.

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm glad you enjoyed participating :D

Yeah i think you were successful too, because 61 is insane. How on Earth are you 61? All your answers sound younger than 61

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'll take that as a compliment! I've had the same job since December 2001. My first marriage lasted over 20 years. My second is at 12 already. Three sons, one daughter, a wife who's a career soldier, means we move a lot.

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

4 kids!! Congrats man. I guess if i knew you had remarried i could've been more spot on haha

[–] rhacer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

That would have been a giveaway.
