Well, in software terms, an alpha version is the barely existing framework on which one builds until it eventually becomes a finished program.
So, with that in mind, I'd call them very Alpha - barely removed from monkeys, hardly able to even walk upright shells of humans.
But, if they keep learning, maybe they'll become actual humans someday. Even though they don't exactly look like they'll make it there anytime soon.
I really like this comment. I have nothing else to add :) but congrats had a good laugh.
