I'm guessing because OP was lying about his interaction with hexbear and their removed comments as well as that post were posted as a screenshot to hexbear. There was probably a huge flood of hexbear comments calling them out and the mods figured it would be easier to just remove the post.
Just my guess.
But I read those interactions and I did not see anything there that was misrepresented. I guess I am wondering why not just remove the insult comments as they broke the rules instead of nuking the whole thing?
My guess is that it's just an equation of energy input and time spent. Is it worth removing the problem comments if they keep coming back? How much time as a mod are you willing to spend removing and banning people like that? I can understand taking the approach they did. Personally, I think maybe just locking the thread would've been a better compromise. But I'm not a mod here nor would I want to be lol
Is it weird I hope its due to laziness? Like I get it, moderating a potential dumpster fire and all, but it does give a lot of power and potential for bullying content.
that post had 5 comments, 2 were hexbears. Here's the post in response detailing why they were banned from the comm they claim to have had a bad time with
Yes I read that as well, I thought it was a bit silly and did not really think the dunk tank was looking good. I would say that was a bad time, and the 2 hexbear comments where just straight insults (rule 2) but the whole post is pulled. Does this mean any hexbear can just comment nasty style and the whole post gets pulled?
one was an insult. Do you think the post was removed for insulting comments, or for insulting premise?
That is what I am asking. There was 2 insults and 3 supporting comments with a positive overall vote. I want to know if it was nuked due to the post itself or the comments.
Initially the post itself and confirmed by the comments. Mod tools on Lemmy are very simple and I didn't have time or interest in babysitting a thread that was already looking for a negative, unhelpful discussion. If you really want this discussion, try !fediverse@lemmy.ml.
At the end of the day, it was a mod judgements call about the type of content we want to see on this community.
lol
