It's a common enough idiom out in New England through at least the mid Atlantic region. Growing up it generally meant a parcel smaller than ¼ acre but there are a few towns I've lived in where some folks had maybe a tenth of an acre for their house and driveway and (maybe) yard. You'd almost never hear it described any other way.

Huh. OK I never heard that before.

It was particularly strange because in the text they describe the tiny forests as "the size of a basketball court", and I was like... why didn't you put THAT in the subheading, it actually makes sense.
