Man, more I looked in to it the more I ask if it would be better to use decathlon buy back program and buy another bike (like GRVL 120).
But if I would suggest to look in to Microshift Advent X or sword shifters/derailleurs. They are cheaper, only 10 speed (that's good enough) and you can get decent gear range also if you go 2x it gets to even larger. It is compatible with shimano and fully mechanical.
I bikepack with 34/46 front and 11-42 back 10 speed and it is just barely enough gears.

And wondered if the stock rim could accomodate the advent 1x9 or 1x10?

Would make finding e erything a lot easier.
Probably, shimano has 3 hub types.
If you have access to some 9 speed cassette, try to fit it (ask friends or lbs). I think that the 10 speed won't fit but the 9 might be OK.
