It really seemed like he didn’t, and was pulling out all the stops to block them. And then he did an about-face and extended an olive branch to them after they were kept out of power. Kinda insane.

It's the kind of liberalism that acts progressive until it might actually make a difference, then flees to the right. Although Macron has never really looked progressive.
