I'm now wondering if we ever had the highest standard of living or if it was just propaganda.

I think the baby boomers* immediately after the post war up until ~1970 legit had the highest standard of living in the modern world.

The reason why I think it’s legit is because most of the potential/later competitors were picking up the bombed out pieces post war.

*the straight white male ones of middle class means and up
