it took me a couple days to get it to send me the phone code but it eventually did.

I get the code almost immediately but it just doesn't work when I paste it in the app :/

Edit: The issue seems to be that I'm using GeapheneOS.

Just tried that but apparently WeChat needs me to "verify" myself by entering my credit card info. hell nah

Tried making a WeChat account, but my account was immediately temporarily banned likely because my phone is rooted and I downloaded the app from the Aurora Store. Oops. I guess if I want to use WeChat at some point, I will need to get a separate phone.
