Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

What is "Rule 1"? Is it "Thou shall not have a different opinion."?

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 35 points 2 days ago (1 children)

thou shalt not say things that are censored in china….

Funnily enough it seems like lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml are also censored in China via their great firewall.

Edit: lemmy.ml is still blocked, but lemmygrad apparently not.

because westerners can access it

[–] amon@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Because the way the fediverse works means that it is practically a proxy into other less CCP-friendly instances which is a big nono

[–] poVoq@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Except lemmy.world is not (last time the topic came up, but I haven't checked since).

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

that would be kinda hard to determine for sure

There are some websites that use a VPN inside China that let you check if your website is accessible there.

They work pretty well, here is one I use often for work: https://www.experte.com/internet-censorship/china

Seems lemmy.world not blocked now:

I’m actually in China so I’ll turn my VPN off to see if it’s accurate:

Yeah seems unblocked in China:

Officially, it's "bigotry", unofficially it's a catch-all so that when someone brings it up their more prominent users can make declarations like this:

"routinely the actual reasons people are mad at .ml is getting banned/ censored for being bigoted"

[–] toomanypancakes@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No bigotry - including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia.

So they're saying communism is a disability... Makes sense!

Only in actual fact, though ashamedly never written down anywhere irl in a manner that is so clear and understandable.
