No, there isn't "a" vegan diet. Do you suppose all vegans eat alike? Each of the uncountable diets we might consider may or may not be compatible with veganism, and which of them are or are not vegan is situational. It was vegan to use animals to provide insulin to diabetics once, and now it is not.

Is "not drinking alcohol" a diet, in your mind?

What are you on about? Eating within a certain framework is a vegan diet. Diets can be individual, as in the definition. This is really through the looking glass over a very basic word.
