A majority didn't vote for Trump. That would have required at least a 51% victory. He had 40 something.

49.8% Trump v. 48.3% Harris per: CNN

The moral isn't that Trump is the savior in the eyes of most but that the DNC (And as a result Harris) failed to engage the core of the Democratic base and non voters to vote, or convert Republican voters.

Just checked the official results, you're right. I'm surprised there were so many candidates apart from Trump and Harris.
