Nothing wrong with owning one, in and of itself. It's just a car in those terms.

The problem is that it's also a symbol now. Anything musk owns or has a significant interest in is tied into his cult of personality, and that's linked to his current actions as part of the US coup, and his actions to prop up and empower far right ideology and parties across the world.

So, it's a war. Anything and everything musk related is a target when it's extremely unlikely anyone is going to be able to go after him directly without someone on the inside providing access.

When you can't target an oligarch directly, you have to come at it sideways.

I actually made a response to a post that was talking about this subject, so you can get my full take that way; but the gist is that targeting tesla vehicles is an accessible form of direct action that has diffuse, but tangible, effect.

You didn't say anything wrong, btw, but you know how the internet is, and a lot of folks are so fed up with sealioning and "JAQing" (just a question, bro) off that sometimes genuine questions get whacked by the vote button. But, hey, that's a good thing! When down botes reduce people making nasty comments or otherwise being assholes, take the votes because internetizens are assholes, just like meat space, but with no fear of reprisals.

Btw, not expecting you to agree with the explanation as a stance you need to adopt or agree with, I'm just hoping to indicate why you caught heat. And, I think it's cool that instead of complaining about the down votes, you expressed your confusion over what seems to have been a genuine question being slapped down. That's fucking awesome, imo
