It's also worth noting that, at the time that first wave of Germans immigrated, Argentina was just as wealthy as the US and had all the same advantages re: natural resources etc. It's downright weird that it's failed to thrive ever since then.

Your link is about stuff that happened starting in 1976, which was many decades after Argentina was already screwed up. It explains nothing.
It's been going on for over a century, and goes beyond Argentina, and even beyond Latin America. It really isn't "weird" that Argentina (and most of Latin America) failed to thrive in the 20th century, when the global north has done so much to prevent it from doing so.
I gave you a starting point. Maybe take a history class or something. I don't know what else to tell you.
Quit lashing out with petty personal attacks just because I embarrassed you by pointing out the irrelevancy of your source. That was your own error, not mine.
It wasn't a personal attack. It was actual advice to someone who doesn't seem to understand why Latin America is in the state it's in. Seriously, you should take a class that teaches this stuff. Or pick up a book about it. There's a ton of info out there about the intentional destabilization of Latin America by the global north and their financial interests. Nothing about it is weird once you learn why these resource rich countries aren't as successful as they should be.

You're so obsessed with "America bad" that you can't even tell the difference between Argentina and other countries, and yet you see fit to try to lecture me about ignorance? Fuck off.
Sowing chaos in neighboring countries and trade partners will negatively affect Argentina (or any country, really). And again, this is all publicly available information, not some obsession with "America bad". You could learn this in books or in classes or even digging around online, but I get the feeling your anger towards anyone bringing it up is kind of a hindrance there.

You are reading something into my comments that isn't there. I am trying to help you understand why Latin America is in such bad shape, but you're just being combative for no reason. If you let go of the anger for just a moment and read my comments as if you're talking to a human being, I think we could have a constructive dialog. Would you like to do that?
Bullshit. You're trying to push a narrative that has fuck-all to do with the point I had made, which is that Argentina is uniquely screwed up economically in a way the rest of the continent is not. There's a reason the famous economist quote elsewhere in the thread singled it out instead of talking about South America as a whole, after all!
