Proton doesn't need to be allowed. It will be fine, unless they decide to put some terrible anti-cheat.

Obnoxious launchers - which paradox are bad for - can also fuck with proton. They can be worked around though whereas the ~~rootkit~~ anti-cheat is a complete blocker.

They can. Though their workaround won't take long to come with a Proton update. At least Paradox isn't known with that kind of anti-cheat.
