I've got an e-kit and would like to start recording myself, but I have no idea where or how to start. Does anyone have any good resources I can use to get me started?
Do you want to record MIDI or audio?
What outputs does your module have?
Most modules don't have individual outputs for snare, bd, toms and so on, and only have a stereo audio out, in that case MIDI would be my choice.
There are a lot of free recording-software to get you started, I use Ardour myself, but the most popular one is perhaps Reaper.
I only have stereo audio out, so I'm guessing MIDI would be my choice as well.
How difficult is it to use Ardour? Know any good guides I can follow?
Ardour have their own official youtube channel with the basics, and there are a couple of youtubers that make great Ardour content, like https://www.youtube.com/@SudoMetalStudio and https://www.youtube.com/@unfa00
And if you are more into text, there's always the officialmanual: https://manual.ardour.org/working-with-midi/
