Heroic is good for handling install/playing Epic games, but it still farms out to a web browser frame for accessing the store itself.

I'm thinking OP has something like the GOG Galaxy in mind (which afaik will never come to Linux and I'm still pissed about it).

Yes I'm pissed too. They don't want my money apparently so I just stay on Steam

Steam workshop hogging all mods pisses more. Especially if you have the game from GoG. Yes, steamcmd, but usability is bad with 200 mods.
