Local woman Skye Meadows, better known by her in-game display name TheValidValkyrie, has found gender affirmation in an unexpected place: the voice chat of early access MOBA shooter Deadlock.

“It was really weird,” said Meadows. “I was calling for support left in voice chat and one of my teammates just called me a bitch. Later in the game that same guy tried to 1v3 and asked if I was ‘too busy making sandwiches’ to help him when he died. You joke, but I've seen and heard about similar situations of misogynists being weirdly trans inclusive.

People call that "gender ewwphoria".

Ya know this reminds me of a story

I remember the Early Days of Gamergate when it wasn't obvious that it was just Milo Yiannaopolus recruiting for the Neo Nazis.

Back when they actually stuck to the story of holding Game Journalists accountable for poor reporting.

I joined up and was actually kicked out because the guy in charge of the chapter for it took one look at me and said "Sorry honey, this is for gamers, not lonely females looking for boyfriends. GET OUT!"

I was pissed at the time, but I realized I dodged a fucking bullet.

Honestly I was in /r/kotakuinaction and mocked games journos for a bit, but after a while I just quickly noticed the nazis lurking around and bailed. Plus, the posts were just becoming more and more whiny, and from there I just thought "yeah everyone's here a fucking loser, I'm out".

Thankfully that realization made me slide away from the alt-right pipeline, nowadays I'm an anarchy-aligned libertarian socialist :)

I mean I've always hated Nazis, so as soon as I noticed their rhetoric was becoming commonplace I fucked off.
