At least 150 people are reported killed and 1,100 wounded in Israel after the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched its biggest attack in years.

Dozens of gunmen from Gaza infiltrated southern Israeli communities after dawn under the cover of heavy rocket fire.

They have taken both Israeli soldiers and civilians hostage, and some have been brought back to Gaza.

Israel has responded with a wave of air strikes on Gaza that have killed 232 people and wounded 1,600, medics say.

After decades of watching Israel break treaties, steal land/homes, and kill people, I am not terribly upset to see the other side fighting back.

Aiming to and harming civilians is not “fighting back”. It is plain lowly cowardly disgusting terrorism. Fuck Hamas.

it's astonishing seeing all these fascists being happy about a terrorist organization killing people just for funsies.

Frankly, complaints about Israel on this exact front have been plentiful for decades. Their settlers, artillery, white phosphorous bombs and so forth, all have been targeting civilians for as long as I can remember, and are clearly documented at doing so in the last few days as well. It feels like everyone rushing to condemn only Hamas has just gotten their first dose of this conflict this week - there isn't a "good guy" side here, period (besides of course, the actual innocent civilians being killed on both sides).
