The Xperia XZ1 Compact as another person suggested seems like a great fit. But I'd also like to throw in the Pixel 2 as an option. They are actually the only actually capable devices I could find. If I have to guess, the Pixel would be much more widely available than the Xperia. The Pixel probably also has better custom ROM support.
The Pixel 2 I got can't even be bootloader unlocked. Bad choice if you want a custom ROM.
Verizon-style bootlocking ought to be criminal.
Surprising. Lineage lists the Pixel 2 as one of its officially-supported devices.
Which is why I got it, but you can't unlock the bootloader on mine. I spent hours on this.
Damn, sorry
Great choice if you want a custom ROM, you bought a carrier crippled version, sucks, but thats a very known issue and why buying screwed with versions of the phone is always discouraged.
Pixel 2's have near no value anymore as most wouldn't run a phone that will never get security updates. That works for you, you can get unlocked Pixel 2's for under $100 all day long. Sell yours for anything somebody is willing to pay and grab one. As it was said, even for a dinosaur it'll be the best quality phone for what youre going for.
Mine has an expanding battery and is worthless. I won't be buying this again as it has no headphone jack or SD slot and it's been really frustrating to use a phone without them.
I also didn't buy it from a carrier, and it said it was unlocked, so there was no way to know it would be like this.
Ya, whenever you buy used you gotta remember many wrongly use the term unlocked to only refer to the carrier/SIM. I always ask if they were direct from the Goog of a carrier, and if so, from who.
SD cards and headphones jack need will always be a problem as they're outdated features at this point, as well as an entry point for moisture.
I don't care about moisture. Those are features that I need on a regular basis.
Carrier locks don't exist in my country.
