An email isn't a phone call... If I email you at 4:00 AM it's because I'm working at 4:00 AM, not because I expect you to be working at 4:00 AM.

Yeah, who cares when someone sends the email. If your boss expects you to start responding to emails at obscene times, that's another matter.

Exactly. That's why I don't enable email notifications on my phone, and I won't see your 4am email until I roll into the office at 9:15am.
