Mammoth Monday Mood

  • Brush: Chisel and Hound Ambrosia Maple with 26 mm synthetic Maggard knot
  • Razor: Valet AutoStrop VC1 (1922-1929?)
  • Blade: Feather FHS-10
  • Lather: House of Mammoth Mood Indigo
  • Aftershave: Noble Otter Barrbarr
  • Fragrance: MΓ€urer & Wirtz Tabac Original Craftsman

Missed opportunity today:

As I noted after yesterday's evening shave, the blade is already done after 4 shaves, so I switched to a new blade mid-XTG pass, and the difference was impressive. Then it hit me: I have an AutoStrop razor, I should have tried stropping the blade first πŸ€¦πŸ˜…. Luckily, these blades seem to be garbage when it comes to edge retention, so I'll have another chance in about two shaves.

I would have expected an AutoStrop razor to handle this for you πŸ€”

AutoStrop: false advertisement for over a century.

I admit, that the stropping part of the AutoStrop razor (that give it that steam punk look) is what I think is cool about its design. I have a feeling that stropping won't solve problems with that blade, though :)

The stropping part is cool and all, but have you seen how the blade and blade stops are aligned on this thing? I just love that click

You're right, it won't. I mean, I'm gonna try, but only because it looks fun
