Completely unrelated to the meme, but I love how folks on Lemmy will frequently provide alt/descriptive text for images. When I have to deal with user-provided images for my org's website, it's like pulling teeth to get them to provide anything at all.

Hey thank you for commenting on this. It lets me do a tiny lil soapboxing here for just one second hehe:

I wish people did it more often, but I do find the fedi in general good for accessibility (Mastodon community seems especially good at captioning).

I don't want to shame anyone, but I have been trying to cook up a series of memes to encourage this community (and others) to alt up their images.

We're pretty welcoming here. If they were star trek themed i'm sure they would be a hit. Hell you could use Hemmer and Geordi since they are differently abled.

Oh my god that's perfect, thank you

Without getting into too long of a tirade, I'd rather be called disabled than differently abled. I don't get super hearing because my vision sucks.

Yes but in their specific cases they are differently abled. Hemmer has his telepathy and Geordi his visor.

Same - I don't shame anyone for not doing it, but I do try to call out/praise when it's done and/or done exceptionally well. Hopefully that helps.

It most certainly helps, thank you

Thanks for the reminder. I keep forgetting to do that
