!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

You know you don't have to use these big tech platforms right?

Stop bowing down to their madness and just be OK with not having YouTube. It's not like water you know. You don't need them to survive.

The only problem - everyone uses it. And it's a good source of info for all sorts of things (disassembly tutorials, DIY, etc.).

[–] crsu@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

There is more misinformation than information on Youtube

Look at the DIY and disassembly tutorials, I can vouch that most (if not all) of them are great and don't misinform on anything.

Some of the ideas may be stupid though, I can agree with that 😂.

Exactly, everyone uses it. Otherwise I would 100% be using Oddysee or something like that. The problem is all the main content is on YouTube so I want to be able to comment on YouTube.

[–] 0x4E4F@infosec.pub 1 points 9 months ago

I don't comment on YT to be honest... or very rarely... it has to be something that if found REALLY REALLY interesting or informative to comment.

Upvoted for acknowledging the madness of YouTube. It's a broken platform and this crazy comment deletion that doesn't even work properly and deletes completely normal comments is the worst thing they've done ever since its inception, tbh.

Have you heard of the fact that it's not Youtube who is deleting comments but that it's the responsibility of the channel owners?

[–] PlogLod@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I already addressed this here in another comment right after I posted because I know people always claim this lol (based on what I saw of Reddit threads discussing this issue). No it's not the creators, it's 100% YouTube bots. There's a slight possibility it could be people working for YouTube in certain cases on popular channels but mostly it's definitely bots. I often know the creators personally and they've confirmed they're not deleting them and they don't know why it happens.

Google likes to tell lies like they don't delete comments, but they do all the time.

You would think users wouldn't take their word at face value anymore but they still do!

[–] squaresinger@feddit.de 1 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Tell me where Google claimed that they don't delete comments. They obviously clear spam and other shit. And they do that completely officially.

[–] squaresinger@feddit.de 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Then you are probably shadowbanned on Youtube directly. Can happen if you post too much shit too frequently.

Even if they're not yet shadowbanned, they certainly will when they start using homoglyph attacks.
Whether it's justified or not, I can't say because I've seen none of these comments, but it will absolutely confirm OP as a red flag in their system when they try to bypass it.
