I tried to get into twitter and mastodon a couple of times, but always found the platforms strange and just gave up on it. What are some pros of this format that might be worth it to look around there again?

Pros: there's always content and a lot of it.
Cons: you'll get caught in negative emotional spirals pertaining to drama. You're always talking to the community at large and the larger community is toxic enough to be a Superfund site
